Leaving home for Alaska today!

I just finished reading “Alaska – A Novel” by James Michener, and I have downloaded it as an audiobook for the drive. At the end of this book was a sample of Michener’s book “Hawaii” which I found very interesting. It impressed me that in the big picture, human time is just a small speck in the big picture.

This is controversial, but the digital world is very small! Look up! Look out! Don’t die of Sitting Disease with your cervical vertebra permanently fused into a downward position.

Look up! Look up! Look up!!! (And, look out!)

9/1/2024 Sunday – End of day

I left Idaho at its northern boundary and crossed the U.S. Idaho/BC Canada border about 2:30 pm today. Just north of that it changed to Mountain Time zone. Drove through Yahk, Moyie, Cranbrook BC. Explored Moyie Provincial Park (campground appeared full at $30/night) but it was full with no open campsites and young and old people walking and riding their bikes around the campground almost as crowded and noisy as in town, so I drove up the road, north to Ft. Steele Campground (private at $43/night).

Canadian/U.S. exchange rate 22%. Therefore $50 U.S. = $66 Canadian, I think.

$43 was more than I wanted to pay, and I didn’t get the value out of it. I did get a hot shower in their bathroom but I didn’t get any hookups for that price.

Day 1 – Drove 170 miles today.
